MUMBAI, (IANS) – Popular rapper Badshah has taken on a new role as a mentor for children in Dharavi through ‘The Dharavi Dream Project’. Recognizing the healing power of music and its ability to inspire hope and ambition, Badshah has become associated with The Dharavi Dream Project, which aims to provide mentorship and guidance to the young generation.

The project was initially established in 2013 by Oscar-winning music composer A. R. Rahman, renowned filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, and the late serial entrepreneur Samir Bangara. Its primary objective is to discover and nurture talents from Dharavi, a renowned area in Mumbai, and provide them with a platform to showcase their skills to the world.

As The Dharavi Dream Project enters its 10th year, it will be launching Dharavi’s first recording facility on Founder’s Day, which falls on July 15. This recording studio, equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and global sound systems, pays tribute to the late Samir Bangara. In collaboration with Badshah, the studio will not only provide a professional recording environment but also offer mentorship and empowerment to the talents associated with TDDP. The aim is to set a new benchmark within India’s homegrown hip hop community.

Additionally, Badshah will serve as a mentor for over 100 underprivileged talents represented by ‘The After School of Hip Hop,’ an esteemed hip hop academy in Asia under the TDDP umbrella. This academy strives to create an environment that nurtures creative aptitude and offers opportunities for aspiring hip hop artists from underprivileged backgrounds.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Badshah stated, “I am deeply passionate about discovering and nurturing musical talent, and I am proud to support such a diverse establishment that invests in the future arts and music community, contributing to a hip-hop revolution. I am grateful to MC Heam for introducing me to the wonderful people at TDDP.”

Badshah believes that these initiatives will have a positive impact on the growing music scene, empowering and educating artists by providing them with more avenues to showcase their artistry. Furthermore, he emphasizes the overall cultural development of the community through such endeavors.
