JAMNAGAR (ANI) – A bevy of global former and current leaders have been invited to Gujarat’s Jamnagar to attend the pre-wedding festivities of Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani’s youngest son Anant Ambani who will marry industrialist Viren Merchant’s daughter Radhika Merchant later this year.
Qatar Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Queen of Bhutan Jetsun Pema, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen, and Saudi Aramco Chairperson Yasir Al Rumayyan are among those invited for the celebrations scheduled between March 1-3.
Also on the list: Former Prime Minister of Sweden Carl Bildt, Former Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper, President of Google Donald Harrison, former President of Bolivia President Jorge Quiroga, former Prime Minister of Australia Kevin Rudd, and Chairperson World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab.

I can understand the invitation to celebrities and business people as an act of prestige or to cultivate business relations that will benefit Indian population. Yes inviting for social obligation and reciprocation that is consistent with your stature.
But paying $ 8 million dollars (plus expenses- another $2 million or more!) to Rihanna, is a sign of moral and fiscal decadence.
It will cost $1 (Balanced meal like Ensure, rice, coconut water, sugar cane juice,) to feed a hungry child. One should be ashamed of the irresponsibility and extravagance at the expense of a starving child.

Children that receive free money have no appreciation for REAL life. Anil Ambani and Mukesh Ambani were handed a fortune by their father. We saw the spectacle of the inheritance fight. And then the crash of Anil Ambani’s wealth.
And now we see a businessman that looks like a hippie. The girl is marrying for the money. Otherwise this hippie, or should I say hippo is undesirable. I even got a laugh when the guy was talking big about the conservation activities the family is performing. That credit goes to a local WWF India President who gave them hell for the pollution that the refinery in Jamnagar was going to create.

A person has a right to spend his money the way he wants. However, it is time to investigate the black money and untaxed accounts of Ambani.
And while this is being done, it is time for India to make changes to tax laws.
March 2, 20241) A 25% tax on inheritance above Rs. 20 crores including home, jewelry; all assets. This will create a baseline and hold the children of the rich and powerful accountable for dirty money they take.
2) Remove all tax deductions for donations above Rs. 1 lakh. People can always giveaway the amount planned towards taxes and donations with the same impact.
3) Non-profits must pay taxes on their incomes (minus one time donations received) and be required to spend minimum 5% of their total assets minus buildings and hard assets used for operations; each year. And also publish a fairly detailed report of the last five years on their website if available or provide one to media on request for a fee for shipping and handling.
