Canada Parliament Honors Khalistani; India Reminds World Of Kanishka Bombing

OTTAWA, (IANS) – The Canadian Parliament marked the first anniversary of the death of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar by holding a moment of silence in the House of Commons on June 18. India had put him on a list of ‘designated terrorists’ and Canada has said that Indian officials were involved in his killing.

Greg Fergus, the speaker of Canada’s House of Commons, requested everyone to stand and observe a moment of silence for Nijjar.

In Vancouver, outside the Indian Consulate, the Khalistani terrorist’s supporters staged a mock murder trial for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Even as the Canadian Parliament ‘honored’ a Khalistani terrorist, the Indian Consulate in Vancouver reminded the world of the bombing of Air India flight 182 – Kanishka – in which 329 people, including 86 children, were killed.

The official Twitter account of the Consulate General of India in Vancouver in a post on June 19 said, “India stands at the forefront of countering the menace of terrorism and works closely with all nations to tackle this global threat.”

It will also hold a memorial service for the victims on June 23, it said.

  • It is a matter of great shame. I have lost all respect for Canada’s chief. I hope this action is not shared by most of Canadians!
