MUMBAI — With the beginning of Navratri, Indian pop star Daler Mehndi penned an exclusive song for Mata Vaishno Devi, “Navratri Di Wah Wah, Wah Wah Ji Wah Wah.” To celebrate the festival of goddess Durga, the pop icon performed live on 5 bhajans for the goddess. Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board had organized the Darbar to mark the beginning of the Navratri April 13 from 6 pm onwards. The Darbar is telecasted live on MH1 Live Music.
Talking about the songs, Mehndi says that bhajans are penned when it comes from within to connect with the Almighty. They are not written to impress the listeners. He performed live on songs like “Kisi Ne Phad Leya Chimta,” “Ajao Jinne Paar Langana,” “Menu Sohna Jeha Maa Da Darbar Mileya,” “Mata Di Sher Sawari” and “Bholi Maa Tere Dar Te Khade.” The songs, dedicated to Mata Vaishno Devi, are written and composed by Mehndi himself. Sharing his experience, Mehndi said, “I consider it as a gift from the goddess that the lyrics of this song came spontaneously as I was writing. It was like a divine connection with her. These bhajans are our way to express our feelings and impart our message to Maa. It took three days to write this song.”
Talking about attending the Darbar during the Navratri, the pop icon stated, “I consider ourselves lucky that we got a call from Mata Vaishno Devi on the first day of Navratri. My entire family and team are here to praise the goddess on this auspicious occasion.” Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board took proper precautionary measures given the COVID-19 pandemic.
