India Backs Gaza Deal, As Trump Declares Pak’s Munir His “Favorite Field Marshal”

SHARM EL-SHEIKH -India formally endorsed the historic Gaza peace agreement at a high-level summit on October 13, where US President Donald Trump lauded India.

Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh, represented India at the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, co-hosted by Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi. Neither Modi nor the External Affairs Minister Jaishankar attended. The speculation is that the presence of Pakistan and its leaders there was a deterrent.

The gathering of most Western European heads of state and other was convened to bolster regional stability following the release of all remaining hostages and the establishment of a ceasefire in the Gaza strip.

In his address at the summit, Trump mentioned India, stating, “India is a great country with a very good friend of mine at the top, and he has just done a fantastic job.” He also praised Asim Munir of Pakistan and noted he was  his “favorite Field Marshal” as he thanked him and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for their role in bringing peace to Gaza.

Trump then, in his role as mediator of wars in the world,  turned towards Sharif and asked, “I think that Pakistan and India are going to live very nicely together, right?”

Sharif was urged to the microphone by Trump and in his remarks, the Pakistani once again nominated the US leader for the Nobel peace prize affirming his role in stopping the India-Pakistan conflict which India has steadfastly disagreed with.

An official statement from the Ministry of External Affairs declared, “India stands for peace in the Middle East and resolution of issues through dialogue and diplomacy.” New Delhi explicitly endorsed President Trump’s Gaza peace plan and expressed appreciation for the pivotal roles played by Egypt and Qatar in facilitating the peace process. • Netanyahu & IDF mocks Trump Peace Plan

I write with deep concern regarding the recent escalation in Gaza, where Israeli military action has reportedly resulted in the deaths of dozens of civilians. Equally troubling is the temporary halt to vital humanitarian aid deliveries, further endangering innocent lives already facing immense hardship.
Such developments represent not only a humanitarian crisis but also a profound failure of international diplomacy and restraint. At a time when de-escalation and dialogue are urgently needed, inflammatory rhetoric only deepens the divide. Prime Minister Netanyahu’s reported mocking of former President Trump’s peace plan, regardless of one’s stance on its content, undermines the very principle of negotiated solutions.
It is imperative that global leaders and institutions demand an immediate ceasefire, the restoration of aid access, and a recommitment to a just and lasting peace. The world cannot stand by while civilian lives are lost and diplomacy is disregarded.
