NEW DELHI – Indian players secured seven of the nine major honors in the 2026 Wisden Almanack awards, including four of the five selections for the traditional Cricketers of the Year.
Chosen by editor Lawrence Booth, the five-member list featured Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Siraj, and Haseeb Hameed. The Indians were recognized for their performances during the 2025 Test series in England. Booth wrote that Gill’s 754 runs were the highest by an Indian batter in a series against England, highlighted by scores of 269 and 161 at Edgbaston, along with centuries at Headingley and Old Trafford.
Booth also credited Jadeja’s 516 runs at an average of 86, including a century in Manchester, Pant’s twin hundreds at Headingley, and contributions despite injury, and Siraj’s 23 wickets in the drawn series, capped by a decisive five-wicket haul at The Oval. Hameed was honored after leading Nottinghamshire to its first County Championship title in 15 years, scoring 1,258 runs at an average of 66.
Among the remaining awards, Deepti Sharma was named Leading Women’s Cricketer in the World, while Abhishek Sharma received the Leading T20 Cricketer in the World honor.
