IPL: BCCI Probing RR Over Phone Use In Dugout
NEW DELHI-The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has begun a formal investigation into Rajasthan Royals team manager Romi Bhinder after he was seen using a mobile phone in the dugout during the side’s IPL 2026 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Guwahati.
The incident, captured on live television at the ACA Stadium, showed Bhinder using a device while seated next to teenage opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who was looking at the screen. The footage later went viral and raised questions over a possible breach of the league’s anti-corruption protocols.
According to the IPL’s Players and Match Officials Area rules, a team manager may use a phone in the dressing room area but not in the dugout.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that the BCCI Anti-Corruption Unit is verifying the details of the incident.
Royals’ backroom staff since 2008 and also serves as Sooryavanshi’s local guardian in the IPL. (IANS)
