LOS ANGELES, CA – British author and influencer, Jay Shetty, who lives in Southern California and has a massive following of over 15 million on Instagram and millions of views on his “life coaching” videos on YouTube, has recently come under scrutiny.

The Guardian, in a detailed report, has raised questions about the authenticity of the details presented in Shetty’s book, titled “Think Like a Monk: Train Your Mind for Peace and Purpose Every Day.”

The 36-year-old, who gained fame for sharing advice on stress management and daily life situations through Instagram videos, grew up as a British Indian in north London. However, The Guardian’s investigation indicates that some aspects of Shetty’s spiritual education, as mentioned in the book, occurred in London, rather than in India.

Guardian’s findings reveal that universities and institutions mentioned in the book were unaware of their names being associated with Shetty or his coaching schools.

A notable revelation in the report is that Shetty allegedly convinced young content creators to produce and promote content for him, portraying it as a service to Lord Krishna. This information comes amidst claims that Shetty embellished his spiritual credentials to amass followers, demanding substantial sums of money for his guidance.

The controversy extends to Shetty’s former girlfriend, Lila, a practicing psychotherapist and head of mental health services at a UK university. Lila expressed concerns about Shetty misrepresenting his persona, knowledge, and credentials, emphasizing the potential harm to vulnerable individuals through misinformation.

The Guardian’s report sheds light on the questionable aspects of Shetty’s rise to fame, raising important ethical and credibility concerns in the world of influencers.
