JAINA Mourns As Veerayatan Founder Acharya Shri Chandanaji Passes Away

CHICAGO IL-The Federation of Jain Associations in North America (JAINA) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Padma Shri Acharya Shri Chandanaji, founder of Veerayatan and a revered Jain spiritual leader. She passed away on April 22 at 10:30 a.m.
Jaina said Acharya Shri Chandanaji maintained a close association with the Jain community in North America and had attended several Jaina conventions, where she offered guidance, blessings and encouragement to volunteers and leaders.
“Acharya Shri Chandanaji’s life is a beacon of selfless service and spiritual strength,” said Atul Shah, president of Jaina. “Her contributions to humanity and her unwavering blessings to our community will forever remain a source of inspiration.”
Widely known as Tai Ma, she was recognized for turning spiritual values into humanitarian action. Through Veerayatan, she helped build institutions focused on education for underprivileged children, healthcare services, eye care, vocational training, women’s empowerment, and disaster relief and rehabilitation.
Under her leadership, Veerayatan grew into an internationally respected organization rooted in the principles of seva, shiksha and sadhana. Its work reached underserved communities and created opportunities for countless people.
Jaina extended condolences to the Veerayatan family, her disciples and the global Jain community, saying her legacy would continue to inspire service and humanitarian efforts around the world.
The organization also noted that the government has directed her last rites be conducted with full state honors in recognition of her contributions to society and humanity.
