MIAMISBURG, OH — Former State Senator Niraj Antani has launched his campaign for Ohio Secretary of State, a position currently held by Frank LaRose, who is term-limited. Antani, a Republican, represented the Dayton area in the Ohio General Assembly for over a decade, first as a State Representative and later as a State Senator.
During his time in office, Antani was known for his advocacy of religious and cultural inclusivity, sponsoring legislation to designate Diwali and two other Hindu holidays as school holidays and establishing October as Hindu Heritage Month.
In his campaign announcement, Antani emphasized the importance of safeguarding elections and defending voting rights, drawing on his own family’s experience under British rule in India. He also criticized political leaders who shift positions based on political pressures, calling for leaders with conviction who prioritize election integrity and fairness.
The Secretary of State is responsible for overseeing elections in Ohio and ensuring their security.
