Pratham SoCal Names New Presidents

LOS ANGELES, CA – Pratham SoCal has elected Mahesh and Jayshree Vyas as presidents of their chapter.

Pratham USA supports the education and skill development of underprivileged children in India. The organization is part of the larger Pratham network, which is one of the largest non-governmental education organizations in India.

Pratham’s mission is to ensure that every child in India receives a quality education, regardless of their socio-economic background. They focus on improving basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills among children, particularly in the early stages of their education.

The SoCal chapter is one of the most active chapters of Pratham in the US, among the 16 chapters. The new presidents are husband and wife and very active in the community.

Dr. Jayshree Vyas is a Board Certified OB/Gyn. After practicing for 37 years, she has retired to pursue her other interests of following the practice of Yoga and Meditation. She gives classes on Yoga and Meditation on Zoom and in person to various groups and has several YouTube videos on these subjects.

Dr. Mahesh Vyas is a Board Certified Allergist who still enjoys practicing part time while enjoying tennis and golf. He told Navneet Chugh, the past president of Pratham, that “We want to use our remaining time, energy and resources for community service and volunteerism. Together, we founded the Vyas Family Foundation in 2019 to support many charities in the USA and abroad. We have been involved with Pratham, our most dear-to-heart charity, for 20+ years and have done numerous fundraisers at our home. It is with a great sense of responsibility and honor that we accept the position of Co-Presidents of the Los Angeles chapter of Pratham.”
