Pratik Pandey, 35, Found Dead At Microsoft Silicon Valley Office

NEW DELHI- Pratik Pandey, a 35-year-old Indian-American software engineer at Microsoft, was discovered dead at the company’s Silicon Valley office on August 20. Pandey had badged into the office the previous evening, August 19. Police have ruled out foul play, and the case is not being treated as a criminal investigation, as there were no signs of suspicious activity, according to Bloomberg. The Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office has stated that the cause of death is not yet known.

Pandey, an alumnus of San Jose State University, joined Microsoft in 2020 and worked on the Fabric data analytics platform. Before his time at Microsoft, he was employed by Walmart and Apple. According to Bloomberg, he reported to Scott Guthrie, the executive vice-president of cloud and AI.

The family, based in India, is currently working with community groups to repatriate his body. Pandey’s family members described him to Bloomberg as “a joyful soul with a radiant smile” who loved playing soccer. Tributes from friends and colleagues have been shared on social media. Microsoft has not officially commented on the death but is reportedly conducting an internal review.
