Prerak Shah Named To Florida A&M Board Of Trustees

TALLAHASSEE, FL- Attorney Prerak Shah has been appointed as one of four new members named to the Florida A&M University Board of Trustees, with his term running upto 2031.
Shah currently serves as a partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP in Houston, where he represents corporations and senior executives facing state and federal investigations, congressional inquiries, and complex civil litigation that intersects with public policy and politics.
Before entering private practice, Shah was the acting United States attorney for the Northern District of Texas, overseeing more than 120 federal prosecutors and leading major cases involving securities fraud, domestic terrorism and violent crime. His career in public service also includes roles as chief of staff and chief counsel to Senator Ted Cruz and as senior counsel to the attorney general of Texas.
Announcing the new appointments, FAMU President Marva B. Johnson said the incoming members bring strengths in law, business and healthcare. “Their outstanding backgrounds in law, business and healthcare will bring added value to our existing board acumen as we work together to lead FAMU forward throughout the coming years,” Johnson said.
Shah earned his Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Chicago Law School and clerked for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
