DES PLAINES, IL — Sanjyot Dunung, a Democratic candidate for Illinois’ 8th Congressional District, has received the endorsement of Vote Common Good, a national organization that mobilizes faith-driven voters.

The group’s political director, Robb Ryerse, said Dunung represents the kind of leadership the organization seeks to support. “Her vision for an America where all voices are heard aligns with our mission to encourage voters to ‘love your neighbor through your vote,’” Ryerse said.

The endorsement follows an earlier backing from the Asian Congressional Caucus.

Dunung has framed her campaign as a “Commonsense Movement,” with priorities centered on affordability, safety, health, and opportunity. A social scientist and educator, she has served on the boards of the National Small Business Association and the Truman Center for National Policy.

The daughter of Indian immigrants, Dunung said her family upbringing and her experiences as a single mother, small business owner, and caregiver inform her understanding of the challenges facing many families in the district.

“I am deeply honored to receive the endorsement of Vote Common Good,” Dunung said in a statement. “Their work reminds us that politics is, at its heart, a moral calling—a call to care for our neighbors and to build a society where every person can thrive.”

Vote Common Good describes itself as a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring people of faith and conscience to engage in politics through values of justice, empathy, and service. The group said its endorsement followed a review of Dunung’s campaign priorities and community engagement.
