Thousands Protest Recruitment Exam Irregularities In Jharkhand

RANCHI-Thousands of job aspirants took to the streets in Ranchi on July 29 to protest alleged irregularities, discrepancies and unresolved demands related to various recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission.

The protesters warned that if the Jharkhand government fails to act on their demands, they will turn Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium into a permanent protest site on the lines of Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and launch an indefinite dharna.

The aspirants organized a ‘Constitution March’ from Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium, drawing participants from several districts across Jharkhand. The march proceeded despite intermittent rain.

Carrying banners, placards and posters, the demonstrators demanded accountability and transparency in the recruitment process. Some of the banners read: “Stop playing with the future of JPSC aspirants”; “End manipulation in the Excise Constable recruitment process”; “Tell us the price of a JPSC seat, we are arranging the money”; “Hemant Soren, resign”; and “Fix accountability in JPSC and JSSC”.

The protesters said their agitation would continue until transparency is ensured in recruitment examinations and their pending demands are addressed. They warned that if the Jharkhand government does not take positive steps, Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium would be turned into a permanent protest venue, with hundreds of candidates launching an indefinite dharna from July 29.

The Ranchi district administration deployed a large police force along the march route from Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium to Albert Ekka Chowk to maintain law and order.

The march disrupted traffic on several major roads in Ranchi, causing long traffic jams, particularly on the stretch between Kachahari Chowk and Albert Ekka Chowk. (IANS)
