Trump Hints At Pak Visit, Highlights Call With Modi
WASHINGTON, DC -US President Donald Trump said he had a “very good talk” with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while also expressing optimism about US-led diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.
“I had a very good talk with him… he’s doing great,” Trump said of Modi while speaking to reporters at the White House, describing the exchange as positive.
During the same interaction, Trump said he could travel to Pakistan if a diplomatic agreement linked to ongoing talks is finalized. “I would go to Pakistan, yeah… Islamabad, I’ll be — I might go,” he said. “If the deal is signed in Islamabad, I might go… they want me.”
He also described ties with Pakistan in favorable terms. “Pakistan has been great, they’ve been so great,” Trump said.
Trump’s remarks came as the US pursues multiple diplomatic tracks across the Middle East, including negotiations with Iran. He said he had spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanon’s leadership. “We’re going to be meeting with Bibi Netanyahu… and the President of Lebanon,” he said.
He also suggested the possibility of direct engagement between Israel and Lebanon, saying a meeting could take place at the White House. “We’re going to have a meeting… first time in 44 years,” he said.
On Hezbollah, Trump said he expected the Iran-backed Lebanese militant group to comply with any ceasefire arrangement. He added that Lebanon would play a role in dealing with Hezbollah. (IANS)
