NEW YORK, NY – As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations here, the Federation of Indian Associations said two Guinness World Records had been set: for the greatest number of flags flown simultaneously and the largest ensemble of the Damru, the musical instrument.
The flags display, in keeping with the theme this year of honoring the Indian flag, made a show of India’s universality, by also including the flags of nations around the world.
FIA President Kenny Desai said the attempt was to do their bit to make the motherland shine in the homeland. FIA Chairman Ankur Vaidya dedicated the records to the global community.
More than 1500 volunteers who registered for the event held on August 21, turned up early in the morning to participate with enthusiasm, said organziers.
