US, India Deepen Tech Collaboration: Jake Sullivan Meets Ajit Doval
WASHINGTON DC (ANI) – US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan met with his Indian counterpart, Ajit Doval, on January 6 to discuss joint production and development of strategic technologies. The dialogue emphasized delivering “secure, reliable, and cost-competitive” solutions to address global challenges.
The meeting underscored progress in areas such as space, semiconductors, biotechnology, clean energy, and cybersecurity, while reaffirming shared commitments to strengthening national security and fostering multilateral collaboration.
In a factsheet titled “The United States and India Committed to Strengthening Strategic Technology Partnership,” the White House noted, “Today, US National Security Advisor (APNSA) Jake Sullivan met with Indian National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi as the United States and India continue to forge a strategic technology partnership that benefits both of our countries and our partners around the world.”
The factsheet also highlighted the US-India Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET), launched by Sullivan and Doval in 2022 under the direction of President Biden and Prime Minister Modi. “In the intervening years, our two nations have taken significant steps forward together to integrate our technology and defense supply chains,” it added, emphasizing the importance of building a trusted and resilient innovation base.
During their discussions, Sullivan and Doval reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening technology protection toolkits and addressing national security concerns, including overcapacity in critical technology sectors. They praised progress in reducing barriers to bilateral trade, technology, and industrial cooperation.
The White House further highlighted the deepening US-India collaboration across sectors such as space, advanced telecommunications, biotechnology, cybersecurity, semiconductors, and clean energy. It acknowledged the partnership’s role in multilateral efforts, including initiatives like the Bio-5 Biopharmaceutical Supply Chain Consortium, the US-India-ROK Technology Trilateral, and Quad collaborations with Australia and Japan.
Sullivan also discussed efforts to finalize the delisting of Indian nuclear entities, which is expected to enhance civil nuclear cooperation. Additionally, updates to US missile export control policies under the Missile Technology Control Regime were shared, aiming to boost US commercial space collaboration with India.
Later in the day, Sullivan visited IIT Delhi, where he lauded Ajit Doval’s contributions to advancing US-India partnerships across various projects.
