Usha Uthup: Without Musicians And Technicians, Nothing Is Possible

MUMBAI – Legendary singer Usha Uthup says a song is always greater than the singer and credits musicians and technicians for making every performance possible.

Appearing in the finale of the singing reality show ‘Indian Idol,’ Uthup performed some of her iconic songs, including ‘Ramba Ho,’ ‘Shaan Se,’ and ‘Hari Om Hari.’

“The song is always bigger than the singer, much, much bigger. That itself is our victory. That is exactly why we are here,” Uthup said.

She said the success of every song depends on the collective efforts of everyone involved, from musicians to technicians.

“Without musicians and without technicians, nothing is possible. I have always believed that the song is always bigger than the singer,” she added.

Singer Shreya Ghoshal, who serves as a judge on ‘Indian Idol,’ praised the veteran artist, saying, “We are living in the era of Usha Uthup ji.”

Uthup also surprised the audience by performing her iconic song ‘Darling Aankhon Se Aankhen Chaar Karne Do’ in Russian.

Over a career spanning nearly five decades, Uthup has sung several evergreen hits across Hindi and regional cinema, including ‘Hari Om Hari’ from ‘Pyara Dushman,’ ‘Ramba Ho Ho Ho Samba,’ ‘One Two Cha Cha Cha,’ ‘Koi Yahan Nache Nache,’ and ‘Darling’ from ‘Saat Khoon Maaf.’ She has also sung in Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and several other Indian and foreign languages.
