Anupam Kher Presents Georgia Governor A Rudraksh Mala

MUMBAI-Veteran Bollywood actor-filmmaker Anupam Kher has received a commendation from the state of Georgia for his contributions to cinema, education and the arts, as well as his role in strengthening cultural ties between India and the United States.

Kher shared pictures and clips from the ceremony at the Georgia State Capitol, where Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp presented him with the commendation in the presence of First Lady Marty Kemp.

Kher also presented the Governor and First Lady with a “Rudraksh Mala from Kashi Vishwanath temple, Varanasi.”

Reflecting on the recognition, Kher said actors are “not officially appointed to represent their country”, but described the opportunity to serve as an unofficial cultural ambassador for India as a meaningful one.

“But what a wonderful feeling it is to be an unofficial cultural ambassador for India to share our stories, our art and a little bit of our country with people around the world. Honours like this bring me joy and remind me of that responsibility.”

Kher thanked Governor Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp for their “warmth and generosity” and said he would cherish the moment. (IANS)
