Delhi HC Directs Removal Of Additional Videos Targeting Sadhguru

NEW DELHI – The Delhi High Court has expanded the scope of its earlier interim injunction in favor of the Isha Foundation, directing online platforms to remove an additional 39 short videos and five English-language videos containing allegedly defamatory content against Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev.

Justice Subramonium Prasad passed the order while allowing an application filed by the Isha Foundation seeking modification of the court’s March 19 interim order, which had directed the removal of certain impugned videos and articles from online platforms.

The Foundation argued that while the earlier order covered links mentioned in the interim injunction application, it did not specifically include the additional videos listed in Paragraph 10 of the plaint, though they allegedly contained content similar to videos already covered by the injunction.

The defendants opposed the plea, arguing it was effectively a review petition seeking to expand the scope of the interim relief under the guise of clarification.

The High Court observed that although the application was filed as one seeking clarification, it was “in fact one for modification.” Justice Prasad held that the relief sought fell within the scope of the earlier interim injunction because the plaint had already been incorporated into the injunction application.

The court also observed that its March 19 order had already found the impugned content to be prima facie defamatory and that the additional videos formed part of the original pleadings. (IANS)
