Punjabi Man Shot Dead While Delivering Pizza

NEW YORK, NY- A 28-year-old man from Punjab was shot dead while delivering a pizza, in an incident suspected to have been the result of a road rage incident.

Gurdeep Singh, a resident of Queens was shot on August 21 while delivering a pizza in Brooklyn.

Police responding to the incident found Singh with a gunshot wound to the chest. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. The unidentified assailant fled the scene after the shooting.

Singh had moved to the US over a dozen years ago from Jabbowal village in Kapurthala district, after taking a loan to fund his journey, according to his family in India. His father, Pyara Lal, said Singh faced financial difficulties after arriving in the US but continued working long hours in the hope of building a more secure future for his family and supporting his parents in India.

Singh was unmarried and is survived by his father and a brother, who work as DJs to support the family, according to Indian media.

The Indian Consulate General in New York said its officials were in touch with Singh’s family and were extending assistance.

“We are deeply saddened to learn about the untimely demise of Mr. Gurdeep Singh, an Indian national, who tragically lost his life in a shooting incident in Brooklyn, New York,” the Indian Consulate General said in a post on X.

“Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with his family during this difficult time. The Consulate is in touch with the family and is extending all possible assistance,” it added. (IANS)
