NEW YORK, NY – Over 24,000 Indian Americans have registered to attend the mega event titled ‘Modi & US: Progress Together,’ scheduled for September 22 at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, which has a capacity of 15,000. Organized by the Indo-American Community of USA (IACU), the event will be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Indian leader is scheduled to address the high-level UN General Assembly session here on September 26, according to a provisional list of speakers issued by the UN.
According to the IACU, registrations for the Long Island event have been facilitated through 590 community organizations across the country, all of who are participating as ‘Welcome Partners.’ Indian Americans from at least 42 states are expected to attend, with particularly strong participation from the tri-state area.
The event will also feature cultural performances and appearances by prominent Indian Americans in business, science, entertainment, and the arts. Attendees will include representatives from all religious communities, organizers said.
This gathering comes 10 years after Modi’s massive community address at Madison Square Garden in 2014.
