Abhay Deol’s ‘Bun Tikki’ Premieres At Palm Springs Festival
PALM SPRINGS, CA (ANI) – The movie Bun Tikki, starring actor Abhay Deol and produced by Manish Malhotra, had its world premiere at the 36th Palm Springs International Film Festival. The father-son drama, set in Nainital, explores the emotional bond between a single father and his seven-year-old son, Shanu.
The premiere was attended by Deol, director Faraz Arif Ansari, and producer Malhotra. Malhotra spoke at the screening, expressing his deep connection to the film: “Bun Tikki is very special. The day I read the script, I knew I had to make this film. It’s a story filled with emotion and love, focusing on the acceptance of children by their parents, exactly as they are. I believe this message should resonate with every parent, both in India and around the world. As a producer, I aim to support films with such impactful stories.”
Deol, who plays the lead role, shared his excitement about the script: “I loved the story the moment I read it. A script that jumps off the page is what I look for. Beyond the story, I was drawn to the playful dynamic between the father and son. The film’s theme of acceptance and diversity stands out, especially in a world filled with hate. It’s about love, and I believe this message naturally shines through in good stories.”
He also praised director Faraz Arif Ansari’s approach, saying, “The integrity with which Faraz wrote the film really resonated with me. The relationship between the father and son, and the empathy portrayed, is what moved me most. The father isn’t a bad guy; he’s just struggling because he’s been conditioned.”
Bun Tikki, produced by Jio Studios and Stage5 Productions, also stars Shabana Azmi, Zeenat Aman, Nushrratt Bharucha, and Rohaan Preet Singh.
