US Ambassador Eric Garcetti Lauds Indian Diaspora

NEW DELHI (ANI)- US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti, on January 13, praised the Indian diaspora and emphasized the deepening bond between India and the United States. He expressed that both nations are stronger when united, highlighting the importance of people-to-people ties. “America sees its future with India, and India sees its future with America,” Garcetti said, stressing that more connections between the two countries will lead to more economic and educational opportunities.

Speaking on the theme “The United States and India: Building Bridges for Our People,” Garcetti urged Americans to embrace connections with Indians as a way to strengthen both countries. He noted that while democracy is challenging to manage, it is the best system and celebrated the shared values of both nations. He also reflected on the 230-year history of US-India cooperation, stating that the relationship has never been stronger.

Garcetti also addressed the issue of visas, calling them “potholes” for diplomatic missions. He reported a 60% increase in visa issuance and praised the US mission’s efforts in streamlining visa processing. He also acknowledged the significant role the Indian diaspora plays in strengthening the ties between the two nations, noting how Indian students and immigrants contribute to US industries, universities, and innovation.

Quoting Kabir’s words, Garcetti called for patience and determination in the ongoing work to further enhance the India-US relationship. As he prepares to leave his post, he expressed confidence in the future, likening his efforts to a gardener nurturing the growth of strong ties between the two countries.
