TEMPE, AZ — Arizona State University (ASU) has reported record enrollment for fall 2025, with Indian students continuing to make up the largest share of its international community.

More than 42,000 new students have enrolled this semester, including over 5,600 from India. In total, more than one-third of ASU’s international student body this fall comes from India, reflecting a decade-long trend. The university now counts more than 20,400 Indian alumni worldwide.

This year’s international enrollment stands at 14,600, a slight decline from 15,104 last fall, following U.S. visa processing delays and the policy changes by the Trump administration, which has been both discouraging international students and pressuring academic institutions to toe the line, disrupting travel plans. While some students were unable to secure visas in time to reach campus, ASU has offered alternatives such as starting online courses, deferring admission, or attending partner institutions abroad.

ASU staff were stationed at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to provide round-the-clock arrivals support for incoming students who had travel permits.
