WASHINGTON, DC – The India Philanthropy Alliance has opened registration for the fourth annual India Giving Day, set for March 13, 2026. Nonprofits focused on India must apply by October 31 to participate.

Launched in 2023, India Giving Day is the first nationwide U.S. campaign dedicated to supporting nonprofits abroad, modeled after community giving days in American cities. It has become the alliance’s flagship effort to strengthen philanthropy among Indian Americans. The 2026 campaign will carry the theme #PowerOfUs, reflecting the diaspora’s role in advancing India’s development in line with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

The initiative has grown steadily since its launch. Contributions rose from $1.3 million from 1,031 donors in 2023 to $8.8 million from 2,691 donors in 2025. Organizers credit grassroots fundraising events and social media outreach for the growth.

Alex Counts, executive director of IPA, said the campaign has been one of the engines driving the growth of Indian American philanthropy over the past six years. Dozens of vetted nonprofits will be featured in 2026, working across education, health care, livelihoods, women’s and children’s programs, elder care, and environmental sustainability. Deepak Raj, IPA chairman and National Co-Chair of India Giving Day, said the platform allows supporters to donate to carefully reviewed organizations.

Sejal Desai, executive director of Akanksha Education Fund and Co-Chair of the steering committee, noted that many groups are collaborating on joint events, giving donors a chance to see which causes align with their priorities. Organizers are urging Indian American families to pledge at least $100 during the March 1–13 campaign window, saying widespread participation could double the budgets of many participating nonprofits.

Sponsors include the MacArthur Foundation, Jain Family Foundation, Avestar Capital, Sehgal Foundation, Wadhwani Impact Trust, Ujala Foundation, and the Raj Family Foundation.
