NEW YORK, NY – Time magazine has selected the “Architects of AI” as its 2025 Person of the Year, spotlighting the figures whose work is reshaping technology, business, society and daily life. The special issue includes two covers: one portraying AI as a vast construction project, and another recreating the 1932 “Lunch Atop a Skyscraper” image with leading voices from the global AI landscape, from Nvidia’s Jensen Huang to OpenAI’s Sam Altman.

Among those featured, two stand out for driving some of the most consequential debates around the future of artificial intelligence.

Karandeep Anand, the CEO of Character.AI, has guided the company to the center of a cultural shift in how people interact with technology. A former Meta and Microsoft executive, Anand is known for building products at global scale. At Character.AI, he has championed conversational agents that serve not only functional tasks but emotional and imaginative needs. The platform’s explosive popularity, particularly among young users, has pushed questions about digital companionship, mental health and human–AI boundaries into the mainstream.

Sriram Krishnan, a senior adviser on artificial intelligence at the White House and a longtime Silicon Valley operator, represents AI’s growing geopolitical and national security significance. Before joining the administration, Krishnan worked in leadership roles at Twitter, Meta and Snap and later became a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, where he focused on frontier technology investments. In Washington, he has emphasized that chips, data centers and large-scale AI models should be treated as strategic assets. His work centers on accelerating deployment, cutting bureaucratic delays and positioning the United States to maintain long-term global leadership in AI.
