Sergio Gor Submits Credentials To President Murmu
NEW DELHI– Sergio Gor formally presented his credentials to President Droupadi Murmu on January 14, marking the start of his tenure as U.S. Ambassador to India and Special Envoy to South and Central Asia.
Speaking at the Embassy after the oath-taking, Gor described ties between Washington and New Delhi as anchored at senior leadership levels. He said he could “attest” to the personal rapport between President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, adding that “real friends can disagree but ultimately resolve their differences.” The remarks were delivered to assembled guests at the Embassy.
Gor outlined his objectives for the posting, describing India–U.S. relations as strategically significant and stating that his mandate was to “take the partnership to the next level.” He said Trump had spoken positively about his past visit to India and his interactions with Modi, adding that he hoped Trump would travel to India again “in the next year or two.” (IANS)
