Big Bill, Bigger Feud: Trump Vs. Musk Round 2

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A public feud has escalated between President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk. The conflict began when Musk threatened to establish a new “America Party” in opposition to the major spending bill that Trump is pushing. In retaliation,Trump suggested cutting government payments to Musk’s companies, while Musk countered by accusing the bill of causing “debt slavery.”

The dispute intensified on July 1 after Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, announced he would back primary challenges against Republican lawmakers who vote for President Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill.” On June 30, Musk posted on social media platform X: “Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame!” He further stated, “And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.” Musk then warned, “If the insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day,” emphasizing the country’s need for a new political choice: “Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE.”

Trump sharply criticized Musk in response, suggesting the Department of Government Expenditure (DOGE) should investigate the subsidies Musk’s companies have received.  Trump asserted, “Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far,” adding that without such government support, Musk would likely “close up shop and head back home to South Africa.”

Trump concluded, “No more rocket launches, satellites, or electric car production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE. Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard look at this? BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!”

Musk responded shortly after, saying the Republican presidemt should follow through on his threats. “I am literally saying CUT IT ALL. Now,” he posted on X.

Musk’s primary objection to the bill is its proposed $5 trillion increase in the national debt, which he termed “insane spending.” He described the current political landscape as a “one-party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!!” Musk clarified that his concern is not about losing government payments for electric vehicles or solar power, but rather, he branded the bill “debt slavery” that he believes “props up industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future.”
