TITUSVILLE, FL – Kris Kumar, a former manager at a Burger King outlet, has been arrested on burglary and grand theft charges after authorities said he stole about $3,500 from the restaurant safe following his termination. Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey has dubbed him as a “Burger King Bandit.”
The investigation began after the store manager reported cash missing from the safe. According to WFTV, the manager told deputies the person responsible entered the business office and opened the safe using a security code. Investigators said Kumar was the only other person believed to know the combination.
Authorities said Kumar had recently been fired after missing several shifts. Detectives said he visited Home Depot before his dismissal and made a duplicate key for the restaurant. Management believed he had returned his official key with his uniform, but investigators said the copied key and his knowledge of security codes allowed him to enter the business and remove the money in. A judge later issued an arrest warrant.
