Businessman Arrested For Hiring Hitman To Settle Business Feud
India-West News Desk
MINEOLA, NY – Navdeep Singh, a 48-year-old construction company owner from Nassau County, has been arrested for allegedly orchestrating a plot to kidnap and murder a former business associate. Prosecutors announced the charges on June 9, detailing a chilling scheme fueled by a long-standing legal and professional dispute.
Singh was arraigned on June 8 on felony conspiracy and criminal solicitation charges. Authorities allege he offered a “hitman” $100,000 and 10 acres of land in India to carry out the brutal act.
According to Nassau County District Attorney, Singh first approached the individual on May 29, outlining a plan to kidnap, torture, and murder his rival. He allegedly made an upfront payment of $7,000 and demanded photographic proof of the victim’s head and torso as confirmation of the killing. Prosecutors also stated that Singh even surveilled the target’s home to aid in the logistics of the plot.
The animosity between the two men reportedly stemmed from a soured business relationship. Singh’s company, Gravity Construction Corp., was removed from a project managed by the intended victim, leading to a bitter multimillion-dollar civil lawsuit between their respective companies.
The dangerous plan unraveled when the individual hired to carry out the murder backed out and immediately reported the plot to law enforcement. Singh was arrested on June 7 and is currently being held on $1 million cash bail or a $5 million bond.
