Californian Malvika Sheth Releases First Single From Debut Album

LOS ANGELES, CA – Multidisciplinary artist Malvika Sheth released ‘Ear Candy’ on August 5, the lead single from her forthcoming debut album.

Sheth, who was born and raised in Los Angeles, said the album has been conceived as a connected narrative rather than a collection of standalone singles, with each track representing a different stage of an overarching emotional story.

‘Ear Candy’ explores the excitement of attraction and self-confidence while introducing broader themes that run through the album, including vulnerability, emotional restraint and personal growth, Sheth said. She added the project draws inspiration from the Indian concepts of Shakti, representing movement and energy, and Shiva, symbolizing stillness and balance.

The song blends synth-pop, contemporary R&B, dance-pop and cinematic production with Indian musical elements. It opens with the sound of a ghungroo, incorporates subtle Hindi ad-libs, and concludes with the line, “Tu kaun desh se aayi?” (“What country did you come from?”), a lyric Sheth said is intended to leave listeners with a sense of curiosity as the album’s story unfolds.

Sheth said fashion is another key element of the project, describing it as a storytelling device that complements the music and visuals rather than simply serving as styling.

Following the single’s release, Sheth is traveling to Mumbai to film the accompanying music video with an established creative team. The video’s post-production will be handled by DNEG, the visual effects studio known for its work on major Hollywood productions, including Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, ‘The Odyssey.’

Before launching her music career, Sheth built a following through fashion and digital content. Her debut EP, ‘Online/IRL,’ has garnered more than 200,000 streams on Spotify.
