CBS Star Lydian Nadhaswaram To Release ‘Thirukkural 1330’ Musical
CHENNAI (IANS) — Lydian Nadhaswaram, the musical prodigy who captivated audiences worldwide and brought pride to India by winning the CBS talent show “The World’s Best” in 2019, has said his highly anticipated project, “The Thirukkural 1330 – Musical Ethos,” will be released on September 6.
He further elaborated on the ambitious scope of the project, stating, “This project features 1000+ voices, spanning across genres from all over the world, along with a few new musical styles born along the way — all woven together to bring the immortal words of Thiruvalluvar into sound, along with their meanings.”
The Thirukkuṟaḷ, a classic Tamil language text, is globally recognized as one of the greatest literary works. It comprises 1,330 short couplets, known as Kurals, each consisting of seven words. The book offers profound teachings on virtues, wealth, and love, celebrated for its universal and secular nature. Lydian’s endeavor to transform this revered text into a musical format is eagerly awaited by many.
It’s worth noting that Lydian Nadhaswaram is the sole student of acclaimed music director Ilaiyaraaja, who recently made history by becoming the first Indian to present a Western classical symphony at the Eventim Apollo theatre in London this past March.
A native of Chennai, Lydian was just 17 years old when he clinched the top prize of one million dollars on “The World’s Best” in 2019. The young musician is proficient in an impressive 14 instruments, including drums, tabla, and guitar, and is particularly renowned for his exceptional piano skills.
