Christopher Nolan, Takes ‘The Odyssey’ Tour To Mumbai, Matt Damon In Attendance

MUMBAI – Christopher Nolan and the cast of ‘The Odyssey’ visited Mumbai on July 11 as part of the film’s global promotional tour. The city was one of the campaign’s official international stops, alongside London, Paris and New York.

At a press conference at the Taj Mahal Palace, Nolan was joined by actors Matt Damon and Tom Holland. Reflecting on his return to Mumbai, Nolan spoke about viewing the city through a filmmaker’s eyes.

“You come to the city with fresh eyes and look around, and there is always something you wish to photograph as a filmmaker,” he said.

Nolan also said he enjoys making large-scale films because they give him an opportunity to travel the world and connect with different cultures.

Damon, who plays Odysseus, spoke about the film’s message and the consequences of the choices people make. Holland, who portrays Odysseus’ son Telemachus, recalled one of his experiences while filming in Morocco.

The Mumbai stop also included a fan screening of the film, where Nolan and members of the cast made an unannounced appearance and greeted the audience. Dimple Kapadia, Boman Irani, Shruti Haasan, Prateik Smita Patil and Jim Sarbh, attended the Mumbai premiere on July 11.

Based on Homer’s Greek epic, ‘The Odyssey’ stars Damon as Odysseus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Robert Pattinson as Antinous and Holland as Telemachus. Lupita Nyong’o and Zendaya are also part of the ensemble cast.

Nolan wrote the screenplay and produced the film. ‘The Odyssey’ is scheduled to release in theaters on July 17.
