Directive Against Ranveer Singh Is Withdrawn

MUMBAI– The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has withdrawn its non-cooperation directive against actor Ranveer Singh after discussions with major industry bodies, including the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPAA), the Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA), and the Producers Guild of India.

Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, chief advisor to FWICE, said the organization withdrew its earlier action after producer bodies agreed to help resolve the dispute.

“After the last press conference, when we took the decision of non-cooperation, we wrote to the producer bodies that you should also be involved in this because this is an industry issue. And as far as this story is concerned, the producer is the victim,” Pandit told.

Pandit said IMPAA President Abhay Sinha responded to FWICE’s outreach by proposing talks, provided the non-cooperation directive was first withdrawn.

“Abhay ji said the producer body, IMPAA, would get involved, but only if the non-cooperation order was withdrawn. Then we could sit together and resolve the issue,” Pandit said. He added that FWICE subsequently received a letter from IMPAA expressing its readiness for discussions.

Pandit said the Producers Guild of India had also backed efforts to address the issue and that discussions with other producer bodies would continue. He said the aim was to settle the dispute, rebuild trust within the industry, and avoid similar situations in the future.

“We appealed to Ranveer as well to come forward and help resolve this matter so the industry can thrive again. You are responsible for bringing audiences to theatres, and the industry must move ahead,” Pandit said.

Representing CINTAA at the press conference, actress Upasana Singh said the artists’ body had urged FWICE to reconsider its stance and supported a dialogue-based resolution.

“CINTAA is an association of artists. It is our duty to safeguard their interests, address their concerns, and find solutions,” Singh said.

She added that all stakeholders—including producers, directors, actors, and technicians—should be protected, noting that Ranveer Singh had made significant contributions to the industry. (IANS)
