Driver Arrested After Juvenile Passenger Reports Sexual Assault

SAN JOSE, CA – A Foster City man who worked as a ride-hailing service driver was arrested by San Jose police after a juvenile passenger reported being sexually assaulted, authorities said.

Officers responded at about 10:40 pm on September 12 to a report of a sexual assault. The incident had occurred earlier that evening, police said.

The juvenile told officers that the driver had assaulted him. Police later identified the driver as Anuj Kumar of Foster City.

Kumar was arrested September 13 with assistance from Foster City police and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of sexual assault of a minor.

Detectives with the San Jose Police Department’s Sexual Assaults Investigation Unit believe there may be other victims and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
