Hakeem Jeffries Condemns Rise Of Anti-South Asian Hate
India-West News Desk
WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries has condemned what he described as a rise in anti-South Asian hate, calling for Republicans to join efforts to confront racism and xenophobia.
In a statement September 18, Jeffries cited recent incidents involving members of the South Asian community, including the stabbing of a Sikh driver in Wyoming.
He said the driver was stabbed 17 times after the Department of Homeland Security posted what he described as racist propaganda with the message, “Get off our roads, you don’t know how to drive, Mr. Singh.”
Jeffries also pointed to comments by Bo French, a Republican statewide candidate in Texas, which he described as racist toward students celebrating at a University of Texas football game.
He criticized Republicans for what he described as allowing hateful behavior and demeaning rhetoric targeting South Asian communities.
“It is unacceptable, unconscionable and un-American,” Jeffries said.
Jeffries said the United States is “a gorgeous mosaic of people from all over the world” who come to the country, work hard and pursue the American dream. He said House Democrats would continue to confront racism and xenophobia.
“It’s time for Republicans to join us,” he said.

The MAGA disciples are beating the wrong bush. They are going after the most peaceful, God-fearing neighbors, such as the Sikhs, for their declining economic opportunities in the transportation industry, especially in the commercial truck driving profession. It is not the Sikhs posing threats to their jobs; it is the software engineers and technology corporations that will take over the driving business without human drivers. In a couple of years, the MAGA drivers and the Sikh drivers will be out of jobs. However, the Sikh drivers will always find alternative professions because of their work ethic. I am afraid the MAGA drivers will be left with nothing except anger, remorse, and self-pity.
