LOS ANGELES, CA- Filmmaker Smriti Mundhra and comedian Hasan Minhaj have partnered on ‘Bollywood Dance U,’ a four-part documentary series following college teams competing in Bollywood fusion dance.

The series premiered September 23 on Minhaj’s YouTube channel. Mundhra created and directed the project, which follows two rival Texas teams as they compete for the championship at Legends, a national Bollywood fusion dance competition.

Minhaj narrates the series and serves as an executive producer with Prashanth Venkataramanujam through their 186K Films banner. Emmy-winning producer Joe Lewis also serves as an executive producer.

Minhaj said he and Venkataramanujam were excited to work with Mundhra and her producing team and bring the documentary to a wider audience. Minhaj’s familiarity with the circuit made him a natural fit to narrate and executive produce the series.

The project comes after the recent Netflix release of ‘Best of the Best,’ a comedy set on the collegiate Bollywood fusion dance circuit. Minhaj stars in the film and co-wrote the screenplay with Venkataramanujam.

Mundhra is the creator, director and executive producer of Netflix’s ‘Indian Matchmaking.’ She also created and directed the intelligently made Netflix documentary series ‘The Romantics,’ which explores the history of Bollywood.

Mundhra has also directed episodes of ‘Never Have I Ever’ and ‘The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh,’ and worked on ‘Jewish Matchmaking’ and Hulu’s ‘Muslim Matchmaker.’
