Kate Hudson Praises Mindy Kaling: A Dedicated Powerhouse

LOS ANGELES, CA (ANI) -Kate Hudson, star and executive producer of Netflix’s basketball dramedy Running Point, has praised co-creator and fellow executive producer Mindy Kaling for her remarkable dedication to the series.

Hudson highlighted Kaling’s strong work ethic, noting that she remained deeply involved with the show even shortly after the birth of her third child in February 2024. At an event Hudson recalled how Kaling participated in the show’s first table read via Zoom while pregnant and sent writing notes just hours after giving birth.

“She is a powerhouse who delivers on every promise,” Hudson said, adding that Kaling’s ability to build and lead a talented team has been crucial to the show’s success.

Running Point draws inspiration from the life of Jeanie Buss—the first woman to lead an NBA championship team—and follows the story of Isla Gordon, played by Hudson, a determined CEO facing sexism and family rivalry in professional basketball.

After a successful first season, the series has been renewed for a second, with co-creator Ike Barinholtz confirming that the writer’s room is actively developing new episodes.
