NEW YORK, NY – The iconic steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art were transformed into a vivid celebration of heritage and elegance as the Met Gala 2025 unveiled a visually arresting setting under the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”

Central to the visual impact of the evening was a 63,000-square-foot carpet, woven from sisal fibers and featuring a daffodil motif—once again provided by Neytt by Extraweave, a Kerala-based design house.

This marks the third consecutive year that Neytt by Extraweave, headquartered in Alappuzha, Kerala, has collaborated with the Met Gala to produce the event’s signature carpet.

Known for its eco-conscious, biodegradable floor coverings, the brand is part of Extraweave, one of India’s largest natural fibre flooring manufacturers. The carpet was crafted from sisal sourced from Madagascar, a sustainable material noted for its durability and minimal environmental impact.

As reported by Vogue, the floral motif—golden daffodils set against a rich blue backdrop—was conceived by artist Cy Gavin, who said he was inspired by the blooms outside his upstate New York studio. Gavin explained to the magazine that the daffodil, often associated with renewal and spring, was a fitting emblem for the Costume Institute’s annual fundraiser, held every first Monday in May.

The involvement of Neytt by Extraweave is a noteworthy example of Indian craftsmanship, continues to find resonance on the world’s most prestigious cultural stages—this time, quite literally underfoot.
