Laura Loomer Backs Usha Vance Amid Faith Debate
India-West News Desk
WASHINGTON, D.C.- US far-right political activist Laura Loomer has defended Second Lady Usha Vance over criticism of her Hindu faith, saying she is targeted because she is “a brown Hindu woman” and has no reason to convert to Catholicism.
Loomer’s remarks came after CBS aired an interview in which Usha Vance spoke about her religious beliefs and why she has not followed her husband, US Vice President JD Vance, in converting to Catholicism.
“I grew up in a Hindu household that was a very stable household. I have not felt the same need to seek something different that he (JD Vance) has,” Usha Vance said in the interview.
In a series of posts on X, Loomer said Usha Vance should not convert to Catholicism to appease critics. She also alleged that Groypers and commentator Tucker Carlson would continue attacking the Second Lady because she is “a brown Hindu woman,” regardless of what she says or does. In another post, Loomer wrote that she hoped Usha Vance would never convert.
The conversation later turned to India after an X user asked Loomer whether she had ever met an Indian. Referring to her recent two-week visit to the country, Loomer wrote: “Yah I was just in India for 2 weeks and Indians are some of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. They are so kind, generous and I will take a 100 Hindus over 10 Muslims any day.”
Loomer has previously criticized H-1B visa holders, claiming Indians were taking American jobs. Her latest comments about Indians and India differ from those earlier remarks.

Dear Laura Loomer, I very much appreciated your write ups in X about our second lady Usha Vance and her Hindu faith and her upbringing. I am so happy that you were recently in India. I am sure that it gave a positive new perspective to you about India and its people.
June 25, 2026I am also a Hindu and I believe that it is not only a religion; it is a way of life called Hinduism, more tha 7000 years old. We not only do not believe in conversion, we adopt anything we see in other faiths into our own life. One important point in Hinduism is that we are not worn a sinner; our deep rooted belief is that we are blessed with this life to do good for human race, but some of us humans do bad things to other humans and become sinners. Due to their sins done here on our beautiful planet, they suffer in this life and next life. They do not get away from the consequences of their sins. No one takes care of their acts of sins or die for it.
That is why Usha is at peace with her husband’s faith. Moreover, she helped him to see the light of his adopted faith.
