Schumer Hails Community On India’s Independence Day

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Charles Schumer has extended Independence Day greetings to India, praising New York’s Indian American community for its contributions to the state and the country.

“Happy 80th Independence Day, India!” Schumer said, describing Indian Americans as a vibrant community whose contributions have strengthened “every facet of our state and country.”

He said the community reflects New York’s diversity, citing Indian Americans as “talented, hardworking people from around the world” who contribute to building a stronger society.

Schumer also said he looked forward to continuing to strengthen the U.S.-India partnership and advancing the two countries’ shared democratic values for generations to come.
