India-West Staff Reporter
CHARLOTTE, NC — Chandraprabha Singh, 44, a teacher assistant at Endhaven Elementary School, has been arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury after allegedly cutting her husband during an argument about house cleaning.
The incident occurred on October 12 at a local apartment complex. Her husband, Arvind Singh, sustained a serious neck injury and was hospitalized.
According to police, the victim told officers that Singh attacked him “purposely” with a knife after becoming frustrated over the unclean house.
Singh claimed the injury was accidental, saying she was preparing breakfast when she turned while holding the knife.
Singh was initially denied bond but later released on a $10,000 bond with conditions including electronic monitoring and no contact with her husband. CMPD confirmed the incident did not occur on school property and did not involve students or staff.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has suspended Singh with pay pending the outcome of the case.
