Maitreyi Ramakrishnan Back On Netflix With Hasan Minhaj

LOS ANGELES, CA- Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is returning to Netflix with ‘Best of the Best,’ a new film co-written and produced by Hasan Minhaj and directed by Lena Khan.

Netflix has unveiled the first look at the film and announced that it will premiere on September 18. Directed by Khan, whose previous credits include ‘The Tiger Hunter’ and Disney+’s ‘Flora & Ulysses,’ the movie is set in the competitive world of collegiate Bollywood-fusion dance.

Ramakrishnan and Priyanka Kedia play childhood friends Maya and Anjali, who join UCLA’s Bollywood-fusion dance team in pursuit of the U.S. Championship. As they set their sights on the title, they discover the competition is far more demanding than they had imagined.

In addition to co-writing and producing the film, Minhaj also appears in the cast, which includes Ankur Rathee, Janina Gavankar, Chaneil Kular, Becky Alex, Shreya Navile, Lilly Singh, Nihar Duvvuri, Nico Greetham, Amryn Khurana, Tanishq Joshi, Saara Chaudry and Sasha Bhasin.

‘Best of the Best’ marks Ramakrishnan’s first live-action Netflix project since ‘Never Have I Ever’ concluded in 2023. She most recently lent her voice to Netflix’s animated film ‘The Twits’ before returning to a live-action role with the upcoming feature.
