Mindy Kaling Says Tina Fey, Amy Poehler Changed Her View On Weight
LOS ANGELES, CA-Hollywood actress, writer and producer Mindy Kaling has expressed gratitude to fellow comedians Tina Fey and Amy Poehler for the encouragement they gave her early in her weight-loss journey.
The 47-year-old actress recalled meeting two of her comedy heroes early in her career and said their first conversation about her weight left a lasting impression, reports ‘Female First UK’.
Speaking on comedian Amy Poehler’s ‘Good Hang’ podcast, Mindy said, “I don’t know why I remember this story, and I’m not proud of it.
“I don’t know why I would possibly come up with two women that I admire but we were somewhere and I was like, ‘Yeah, I just want to lose 30 pounds’.”
According to ‘Female First UK’, Mindy recalled that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler told her that her weight-loss goal was too extreme.
The actress said, “I remember I was so happy for, like, three weeks after that. I was like, ‘Wow, Amy and Tina don’t think I’m a fat load’. I was so happy, (like) even in the aughts, you guys were like, ‘What, are you crazy?'”
She added, “You could have easily been like, ‘We don’t ever think about it. We’re naturally thin’. It was a kindness for you to acknowledge that, so I could see that in my heroes. It is really fascinating and nice that culture has changed so much.” (IANS)
