MUMBAI – Madhuri Dixit, who married Dr. Shriram Nene in 1999, took a significant step by moving to the United States at the peak of her career, prioritizing her family life before resuming her professional journey. Reflecting on her decision in a recent interview with Galatta India, Madhuri shared, “I just thought I had met the right person for me. This is the man I want to marry, and I am going to get married to this guy because everybody dreams for themselves. For me, it was like having a house, a husband, a family, and kids. I love kids. So, having kids was a big part of that dream.”
She addressed questions about stepping away from the limelight, stating, “When people say, ‘Oh, you were away, and didn’t you miss?’, I be like, ‘No, I didn’t miss because I was living my dream.’”
Madhuri also explained how the decision to relocate to the U.S. during the height of her career didn’t intimidate her. “I was very happy because for me, the paraphernalia was not very important to me. I love what I do. I love acting, dancing, and everything to do with my profession. Anything else is just a bonus like people consider you a star. But I haven’t ever felt that way about me. So, for me, it was never like, ‘Oh my God, I am going away from the public eye. I am getting married at the peak of my career.’ I never thought of it that way.”
The couple, who married in 1999, welcomed their first son, Arin, in 2003, followed by Ryan in 2005. After dedicating several years to her family life, Madhuri made her comeback with Aaja Nachle in 2007.
Currently, Madhuri’s latest film, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, is running in theaters, marking another milestone in her illustrious career.
