Nithiyashree Moorthi Performs Bharatanatyam Arangetram

LAKE FOREST, CA – Nithiyashree Moorthi, a student of Mahalakshmi Balaji of the Rudralayam Dance School, performed her Arangetram on August 13 at the Lake Forest Civic Center.

She began with the Kali kauthuvam which portrayed Maa Kali dancing in the forests as Nandi played the drums. Then came the traditional alarippu set to chathusra eka thalam.

She then danced the popular jathiswaram in kalyani ragam followed by the central varnam, ‘Unnai Ninaithu’ set to devamanohair ragam. The vigorous

‘Bho Shambho’ in praise to Lord Shiva included intricate choreography by the Nithiyashree’s guru. Then came a soothing padam in kamboji depicting the romance of Lord Muruga. The recital concluded with a dhanasri thillana, a press release said.
