LONG ISLAND, NY (ANI) – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 22 emphasized the unbreakable bond between India and its global diaspora during the “Modi & US” event at Nassau Coliseum in New York. Addressing the Indian community, he stated, “You have connected India with America and America with India. Your skill, talent, and commitment are unmatched. Despite being overseas, no ocean can separate you from India.” Modi referred to the diaspora as “Rashtradoot,” or brand ambassadors of India, acknowledging their vital role in fostering India-U.S. relations.

Celebrating Diversity and Unity

Modi praised the Indian community for embodying the spirit of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” meaning “the world is one family.” He reflected on the rich diversity of India, stating, “We are residents of a country where there are hundreds of languages and dialects, all the religions and sects of the world. Still, we are moving ahead united and noble.” He highlighted that this diversity is a strength that helps India connect with the world.

Personal Connection with the Diaspora

Recalling his earlier visits to the U.S., Modi expressed gratitude for the love and affection he has received from the Indian community. “Even before I held any position, I visited about 29 states of America,” he shared, emphasizing his long-standing interest in connecting with the diaspora.

Gratitude for U.S. Leadership

Modi extended heartfelt thanks to President Joe Biden for his warm hospitality during his Quad visit to Delaware. “This honor belongs to 1.4 billion Indians, it’s your honor, your achievement, and the honor of the millions of Indians living here,” he said, acknowledging the positive reputation of the Indian community worldwide.

Celebration of Democracy

Discussing India’s recent elections, Modi remarked that “the recent elections in India were the largest in human history.” He underscored the significance of democracy in both India and the U.S., noting, “This 2024 is crucial for the entire world. India and America are together in this celebration of democracy.”

Impact of the Indian Diaspora

The event saw a warm reception from approximately 15,000 members of the Indian diaspora from 42 states. Modi recognized their contributions to India’s growth, stating that Indians excel no matter where they are located. He highlighted India’s advancements in mobile manufacturing and digital public infrastructure, asserting that “made in India” chips would soon be available in America.

Commitment to Global Sports and Environment

Modi announced India’s ambitions to host the 2036 Olympic Games and celebrated the nation’s performance at the recent Paris Olympics. He highlighted India’s rising global prominence in various fields, including sports and entertainment, noting the success of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Indian cinema.

Vision for a Developed India

Concluding his address, Modi introduced the five petals of ‘Pushp,’ representing his vision for a developed India: ‘P’ for Progressive Bharat, ‘U’ for Unstoppable Bharat, ‘S’ for Spiritual Bharat, ‘H’ for Humanity First, and ‘P’ for Prosperous India. He stated, “These five petals will pave the way for a Viksit Bharat.”

A Commitment to Governance

Modi reminded the audience of his dedication to good governance, saying, “I couldn’t give my life for ‘Swaraj’ (self-rule), but I decided that I would dedicate my life to ‘Suraaj’ (good governance) and ‘Samruddh Bharat’ (prosperous India).” His address underscored the importance of the Indian diaspora in shaping India’s future and strengthening ties with the U.S.
