Pop Girl Band VIVA’s Music Returns To Streaming After 20 Years

MUMBAI- Two decades after defining India’s early pop music scene, the music catalogue of VIVA, the country’s first pop girl band, is now available on major audio streaming platforms through a collaboration with KaanPhod and JioStar.

VIVA was originally formed as a five-member group comprising singers Neha Bhasin, Anushka Manchanda, Pratichee Mohapatra, Mahua Kamat and Seema Ramchandani. Seema left the group shortly after the release of its debut album. The remaining four members went on to release their second and final album, ‘Viva! Reloaded’, in 2003.

Announcing the return of the band’s music to digital platforms, singer Neha Bhasin said the group’s legacy had endured long after it stopped performing together.

“VIVA was never just a band, it became a feeling, a memory and an entire era for us and for a generation that grew up with our music,” Bhasin said.

She added, “As India’s first pop girl band, we shared something truly special together and that connection has stayed alive over the years through the incredible love of our audiences. I’m so happy that the songs and videos which defined so many millennial memories will now finally be available for newer generations to discover, experience and enjoy as well.”

Singer and actor Anushka Manchanda said VIVA played a significant role in shaping the members’ personal and professional journeys.

“VIVA represents a powerful moment in time that laid the foundation for us to be strong, independent women,” she said.

Singer Pratichee Mohapatra said the band marked the beginning of her musical career and remained closely tied to some of her most cherished memories.

“VIVA feels inseparable from who I am, almost like an extension of my own name,” she said.

“It holds some of my happiest memories, deepest friendships and biggest milestones. Seeing the music return after all these years feels emotional, nostalgic and a little surreal.” (IANS)
